After reaching Sri Lanka, proceed to Negombo on the first day. There are so many Catholic churches in Negombo such as St. Mary’s Church, allowing locals to refer to the city as ‘Little Rome’. This church’s representations of Jesus Christ make it a fun place to visit. Get settled in at the hotel and relax on the first day of the trip.
Explore Negombo and see the famous locations. When you take a leisurely stroll around the city, don’t forget to stop by the beach. From there, continue on to Sigiriya. During your trip, you can meet the elephants at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Injured and abandoned elephants are being cared for by caregivers in this sanctuary. Once in Sigiriya check into your hotel.
On the third day, ascend the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Beautifully painted frescoes adorn this fortress’ rocky exterior. Views of the surrounding landscape are available from the summit. Continue to Polonnaruwa which is well-known for its numerous ruins, after lunch. The second capital of Sri Lanka used to be Polonnaruwa. Visit the ancient ruins while on a tour of this city.
On day four, travel to Anuradhapura, a city well-known for the Atamasthana. Investigate several ancient temples. Explore the city and learn about the ruins and temples’ histories. In the afternoon travel back to Habarana before continuing on to Minneriya. It is possible to see herds of elephants that roam the valleys in Minneriya National Park.
Travel from Anuradhapura to Kandy. The Dambulla Cave Temple lies within your reach if you make a stop there. On day ten, leave for Yala as soon as the sun comes up. Experience a variety of wildlife, especially the leopards as they hunt and unwind, by taking a jeep safari through the park. Leopards can be seen because Yala is known to have a large population of them.
The Galle Dutch Fort is the best-preserved sea fortress in Asia. Make sure to visit Galle for the first time when you depart early in the morning.
